Learning Outcomes

Grade: 6

Class: English Language

Unit Length: 2 Weeks, 3 Forty-minute classes a week

*This is the standard length for 5th & 6th grade English units in South Korean public schools.

Unit of Study: Daily Schedule (Routines)

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Students will be able to answer questions about their daily routines in complete sentences.

  2. Students will be able to identify which activities align with specific times.

  3. Students will be able to listen to schedules in English and demonstrate comprehension.

  4. Students will be able to follow a schedule written in English.

  5. Students will be able to write their daily routines in English.

  6. Students will be able to summarize and comment on routines and schedules.

        e.x.- He works a lot. She does not sleep enough.


Speaking Test Item: Student must answer in a complete sentence.

1. What time do you wake up in the morning?

*I wake up at __:___.

2. What time do you have dinner?

*I have dinner at ___:___.

etc...

Listening Test Item: Students will listen to multiple recordings and must answer questions based on content. Questions will be multiple choice (with 5 responses per Korean standards) and fill-in-the-blank.

1. What time will Jinho get home from school?

A) 5:00

B) 5:15

C) 2:30

D) 4:45

E) 3:26

2) Jinho has _________ at 8'oclock every morning. *breakfast*

Writing Test Item: Students will be given a list of times and activities and must match the time with the activity by writing their schedules using complete sentences.

Ex) breakfast, lunch, dinner, 8:00, 12:00, 6:00

1. I have breakfast at 8:00. I have lunch at 12:00. I have dinner at 6:00.

Essay Test Item:

Instructions- You must write, in order, your regular Friday schedule starting from when you wake up in the morning and ending with going to sleep. You must include at least eight (8) activities and their corresponding times. Be prepared to read your schedule out loud to the class. ****These instructions would also be written in Korean, though the essay must be written in English****

After the essay has been presented to the class I will choose three people to ask questions to the presenter. This will fulfill the learning outcomes for number 6, summarizing and commenting on routines. It will also act as extra motivation to pay attention to the presentations!
